Part of the "Day at the Beach" series, this piece is a reflection of the way I feel in the ocean, or honestly when I'm in any water. Growing up as a Cali girl with a rampant imagination, I would often describe myself as a mermaid in the water as a young girl enjoying the pacific and pools. Much like art and painting for me, my confidence in the water would grow with time and practice.
Closer observation reveals her left arm appearing to be wrapped and covered by kelp, seaweed, or some material for reasons undisclosed... and what appears to be a betta-like tail keeps our gentle lady afloat. What made her dive into the oceans so blue? I looked at her and asked, "what is your name and how do you do..?"... she looked at me and simply, yet perplexingly responded with, "and who are you?". The answers to all of these questions, neither and none of us knew.
